Blue Hubbard (C. maxima)
Large winter squash with blue-gray bumpy skin. Somewhat, bulbous or elongated shape. Thick orange flesh, fine textured. Like potatoes, Blue Hubbards can be used to make french fries. They can also be added to purees, soups, pies, muffins, etc. Nice ornamental. Very hard skin. Keeps well, for up to 6 months. Large running vines, needs space. Big squash, averaging 4 to 6 kilos, but up to 16 (40 lbs). 110 days.

French variety with salmon-pink skin covered with warts. Nice, sweet flavor. Large fruits, round and flattened, from 8 to 15 kilos, with bright orange flesh. The fruits start smooth and grow more and more peanut like protuberances as they age. Unique. About 95 days.

Gourd Luffa (Luffa cylindrica) New for 2025
Vine that can be grown for its edible gourds (pick young) or for the sponges bearing the same name. Here, it is far more easy to grow it for fresh gourds than for sponges (takes at least 50 more days and requires tunnels or a greenhouse). Luffa vines can grow to be quite large. Provide space and support for climbing. Start seedlings inside in peat pots if possible. Gourds can be picked young and used in stir fries (popular in Asia). 80 to 90 days for edible gourds, and 150 days or more for sponges.
